Our Multiage Classroom:
The multiage classroom is an essential element of a Peachtown education. Students are not grouped strictly by age or grade level. This flexibility allows children to learn at their own pace and to develop self-esteem by working at a level appropriate to their own development in any given area of study. Multiage classrooms promote learning through collaboration and group problem solving. Children experience leadership by crossing age and gender barriers to work cooperatively with one another.
Our Curriculum:
Peachtown emphasizes interdisciplinary learning: understanding the connections between topics of study. With a program rich in hands-on experience, and literature based language art, a Peachtown education inspires creativity, individuality, and a joy of learning.
Peachtown's program stresses four basic concepts of learning:
Experiential learning -- children learn best through personal experience and hands-on participation.
Developmental learning -- children learn best and develop healthy esteem when allowed to learn at their own pace, with their successes measured against their own potential. Each child works at a level appropriate to his or her development in any given area of study.
Cooperative learning -- students at Peachtown are not grouped strictly by age or grade level. This sets a dynamic for collaborative problem solving. This ability to 'cross grade levels' enables a child to experience both leadership and collaborative work, and to benefit from working with classmates of differing ages. Students interact in a non-competitive way and care about each other's learning and academic success.
Interdisciplinary learning -- an emphasis on the connections between topics of study is developed, with various subjects combined into one teaching unit.
