Robert F. Stryker

Robert was born in Auburn, New York on November 9, 1944.

He was raised in the Town of Throop and attended Port Byron Central School.

 On January 22, 1963, Robert enlisted in the Army.

In May of 1963, Robert qualified as Marksman with a Browning Automatic Rifle. He also qualified as 2nd Class Gunner with a light Machine Gun as well as being  promoted to Private E2.

After completing Light Weapons Infantry AIT in June of 1963, Robert departed the Continental United States for Germany.

In July of 1963 he was assigned as a rifleman to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 34th Infantry, 24th Infantry Division, 7th US Army, Europe.

In August of 1963 Robert was promoted to Private First Class.

March 16, 1965. Robert was Honorably Discharged and immediately Re-enlisted for three years at Sheridan Kaserne, Augsburg, Germany.

April 1965 he was assigned to Company B, 24th Supply and Transportation Battalion, 24th Infantry Division, 7th US Army as a Light Vehicle Driver.

Robert qualified as Marksman with Rifle M-14 in August of 1965.

May 1966 he departed Europe and returned to the United States.

Robert qualified as Marksman with M-16 Rifle in July of 1966 and was assigned to Company A, 4th Battalion, 30th Infantry, Fort Sill. Oklahoma.

March 1967. Robert departed the United States for Vietnam.

April 1967 he was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, US Army Republic of Vietnam.

In September of 1967 Robert was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge.

He was promoted to Specialist 4th Class in October 1967.

Sadly, on November 7, 1967, Robert was Killed in action.
