Thank You Cayuga County Residents! Our Spring 2007 Home Electronics and Propane Tank Collection was hosted by Soil & Water on County House Road in Sennett. 214 households participated. Since the 2002 event, the County has recycled over 158,000 pounds of electronics. Recycling this equipment captures lead and other potentially toxic components for reuse. Monitor glass and TV picture tubes contain lead and by collecting them, a significant amount of lead will not be contaminating our environment. By collecting an estimated 108 televisions and 133 computer monitors, we recycled over 1,400 pounds of lead at our 2007 event. The 2007 event also collected 152 propane tanks. This is down from prior events, so maybe most of the old tanks that became obsolete in 2002 have been recycled. Way to go Cayuga County! Let's keep up the good work. Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers and those who funded the event!!
