Assessment of Dutch Hollow Brook

This Owasco Watershed Lake Association Stream Corridor Management Project described Dutch Hollow Brook, the second largest tributary of Owasco Lake, with a consistent and measurable Rosgen level I and level II assessment.
During the level II morphological description, sixteen permanent reference reaches, chosen from information gained in the level I geomorphic characterization, were installed.

Cross-section and profile measurements were obtained and channel materials were sampled. Data was collected and detailed channel and valley measurements were obtained along more than 11,000 feet of Dutch Hollow Brook.
The assessment was enhanced by the use of actual elevations above sea level, based upon New York State Department of Transportation bench marks. More comprehensive comparison among the reference reaches is possible because of these actual elevation measurements.
