Museums
Cayuga Museum, Auburn.
Preserved historical artifacts related to Cayuga County are on display at Cayuga Museum. The Museum boasts, among other things, Tiffany stained glass, a large collection of Willard LeGrand Bundy clocks, The Iroquois Center, and a large library of historical documents available to the public for research. The Case Research Lab, also part of the museum and located behind the main building, is where Theodore Case and Earl Sponable invented the first commercially successful system of sound film in 1923.

Frontenac Museum Frontenac Museum, Union Springs.
Recently acquired by the Fontenac Historical Society (early 1990's), this 1840 Greek Revival building, the former First Presbyterian Church, is one of the oldest church buildings in Cayuga County. The museum actively offers opportunities to residents and visitors with many permanent and changing exhibits of local history. The Village of Union Springs works closely with the museum to maintain and promote the building and its contents.

The Harriet Tubman Home, Auburn.
Visit the home that Underground Railroad champion Harriet Tubman settled in after serving as a nurse, spy and scout in the Union army of the Civil War.

Ithaca Gun Museum and Sales, Genoa.
The Ithaca Gun Company was founded in Ithaca in the 1880's; a century later, in 1989, the company moved their production facility to be housed in the former King Ferry HIgh School. Historically, Ithaca Gun built a national and international reputation on double-barreled shotguns and made single-barreled trap shotguns for such eminent figures as Teddy Roosevelt, John J. Audubon, Annie Oakley, and John Philip Sousa.

Rural Life Museum of Genoa Historical Society.
The Rural Life Museum features a recently restored one-room school house dating to 1820, and a Pioneer/English Threshing Barn, circa 1810. The museum exhibits include pictorial displays of area rural schools and local early farm tools. A Wheat Harvest Festival and Parade is held annually for two weekends in July, featuring working exhibits of wheat threshing tools and other activities.

The Seward House, Auburn.
Take a tour through The Seward House where William Henry Seward resided for nearly half a century. Seward served as New York Governor, United States Senator and Secretary of State in the cabinets of Presidents Lincoln and Johnson, and was negotiator for the purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867. The Seward House has an enviable, intact collection of original items used by the Seward family. Family portraits, clothing, diaries and china all serve as a visual diary of Seward's experiences while based in Auburn. Visitors to The Seward House are led through 17Victorian-appointed rooms, each arranged with original furnishings and preserved as if the Seward family was about to return and host one of their famous dinner gatherings!

Ward O'Hara Agricultural Museum of Cayuga County, Auburn.
The Ward O'Hara Agricultural Museum features farm and home implements of all kinds that revolutionized the American way of life.

Willard Memorial Chapel, Auburn. The Willard Memorial Chapel is the only complete chapel interior known to exist featuring a total religious Louis Comfort Tiffany design. Stop in to view the exquisite stained glass windows, chandeliers, mosaic flooring, and other awesome design features of the Chapel.
